Original Teen Idols : Vintage Style

Wanted to share these couple of cuties. In today's age, it is totally normal for most our musicians starting as teen idols,  but in the music of the past there weren't all that many. Check out a couple of the original Biebers.

If you didn't know already, I spend a lot of my time working in one of the studios in which a lot of this music was recorded, Historic RCA Studio B. So, as you can imagine I have a special love for this music. It is a place where people come from all over the world to visit. It is common to have women in their 50s or 60s cry as they walk through the studio. They sit at Elvis' favorite piano and cry. It is so incredibly cute that after all these years they have such a love for the idols they held as children.

It is no secret that my life has been intensely shaped by country music. I spent my days as a child listening to the music, memorizing the lyrics and dreaming of singing them at the Grand Ole Opry. Although my tastes have grown in my older age, I still have a deep love for the historical past of country music and its stars.

Today my inspiration comes from June Carter Cash. Not only was the woman a famous comedian, singer and married to a legend like Johnny Cash but she also had an amazing wardrobe.

8 Years After Cash

Today marks the anniversary of the death of one of my greatest idols, Johnny Cash. He died on September 12, 2003 at the age of 71.

I've always found Johnny to be one of the most interesting human beings I've learned of. I have spent many hours reading books about him and listening to his albums and I can honestly say if I could go back in a time and meet one celeb, he would be it.

He is an inspiration to me, not only as a musician but as a person.  Although he had his demons like anyone else, he had a extremely strong faith and accepted people of all walks of life. If you ever get a chance to read deeper into his life story: do it!

Even the Hillbilly Musicians Can Be Fashionable.

For all of you who don't know, I LOVE country music history. It is what I specialized in at school and just took a break from working in Nashville. That being said, one of my favorite things is to look at old photos from country music history. To fill you in, Owen Bradley's "Quonset Hut" was one of the fore runners of recording history in Nashville. Holy Busy Week!

So I've had a pretty crazy and exciting week that I just would love to share with everyone!

For those of you who don't know, I have recently relocated to the Nashville, Tennessee area where I spend my days greeting tourists at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. I've always had a great love and appreciate for country music and seeing as I studied music, history and American culture in college this is pretty much the only place I can tell people how much I love Johnny Cash on a daily basis and not have them get annoyed.

So this week was CMA week, the Country Music Association's awards were last Wednesday night and I was more than thrilled to spend my day at work watching celebrities walk around and watch the tourists gawk at their feet.  I opened up my morning by watching Dierks Bentley play for free on Good Morning America.

A free concert is probably the best way ever to start your day.

During work I watched people gawk over Josh Turner and Keith Urban...who am I kidding I was definitely catching a glimpse at Josh myself.

After my normal work day, I added in some overtime working for an a star studded after party. I'm not allowed to take any picture of that without losing my job but I did catch a glimpse of the red carpet right outside our doors.

Along with the CMA awards, I was also able to attend the CMA Country Christmas taping. The show will be on ABC November 29th but I was lucky enough to snag a free ticket from people I work with. It was really interesteing to be at a taping that was very stop and go, random transitions and waiting in the dark for something to happen, along with fake snow and tons of gay dancing soldiers shipped in from Los Angeles.

All in all it was a crazy week in the Country music world. I was happy that the people I thought deserved to win finally did...which I've been waiting on for a couple of years. I also did a Nashville craft show this weekend but I will update that in the next post.
